Urban Cottage owner Gail Silverstein says her customers are acutely aware that once a year she slashes prices up to 75 percent on furniture and accessories during her warehouse sale. While it's something for savvy shoppers to keep in mind, it also helps her prepare to stock the store with new items. "I know people look for it," she says. "That's when we try to move millions of things out."

Other stores are less upfront about their sales. Tim Hobby, owner of Space, admits the store almost intentionally holds sporadic sales, just so customers don't wait until items are discounted to redo a room.

We've compiled a list of special promotions and sales at Atlanta home and décor shops. Many events are seasonal, whether before or after major holidays, or are held as showrooms prepare to bring in new items for the next season. To make it on to our list, we asked local retailers when their open-to-the-public sales are scheduled, what type of products they put on sale, and the depth of discounts they offer.
Many store owners prefer to keep their sale dates for the public on the down-low. But they offer this advice to those seeking stylish bargains: Check out your favorite stores' Web sites and sign up for their online mailing lists-or ask to be put on their list during your next visit, which guarantees you'll be tipped off about upcoming sales and discounts.
